The population of Visalia is approximately 132,000 residents and it is the seat of Tulare County. It is the heart of the San Joaquin Valley almost halfway between Sacramento in the north and Los Angeles in the south. It is 43 miles south of Fresno and 78 miles north of Bakersfield. Historically, Visalia was first settled in 1852 by farmers looking for rich soil and abundant water.
